backpack "Community Backpack" is an online bulletin board where local non-profit organizations may post fliers announcing special events and programs for children and families. Organizations interested in posting a flier should email it to bkohn@mcas.k12.in.us. (Please send information in .pdf format if possible.)
 
The event should be in or very close to MCAS attendance boundaries, and it should pertain to or involve students. Please suggest a length of time for the flier to be posted. Sorry - no campaign events or ads/offers by for-profit businesses.

  • Knights of Columbus Free Throw Contest

    An Annual Free Throw Championship open to all students, ages 10-14 yrs. (by 1/1/17) will be held on Saturday, January 28, 2016 at 5:30 pm at the Queen of All Saints School Gym at 1715 E.     Back by popular demand—Pre-School Basketball! It’s not whether you win or lose, it’s how you learn the game. At the Y, kids develop their skills, from shooting, to dribbling, to teamwork and sportsmanship. The program starts Saturday, January 21st, 9:00 a.m. and runs thru Saturday, February 25th, 2017 (Six week program, Saturday mornings at 9:00 a.m.).   • "Y Fit" Competition at Elston YMCA

    Ever dreamt of standing atop “the throne” as the MOST fit athlete in the community? At the Y we have created a competition to discover who that athlete—both male and female—might actually be. Participants will compete in six (6) categories—bench, squat, stair climbs, 40 yard dash, ab mania and an endurance obstacle course to determine who the fittest male and female athletes are in our area. Points allotted for 1st, 2nd & 3rd place finishers in each category. Participant with highest total points at conclusion of competition WINS. Trophies will be awarded to the 1st place male and female finishers. Registration Open Now at either the Michigan City Elston or Long Beach branches, or online at www.lpymca.org.
